WOW Terrific book I adored reading about each new challenge Mr Apps faced in getting his cabin ready, I loved the pictures of the land in all it s glory, loved the stories of the wildlife that he sees Oh, I was so jealous of that last part If there is one thing I did not enjoy, it was my own feeling of laziness, when this family did so much to improve the land they owned Great book to read this Summer, especially if you are a city gal, who longs to live on a farm but knows that would not work ou [...]

Well written personal story about his love for the land he and his family owned in Wisconsin The book deals with the natural history of the land, the people including the Native Americans who lived there, and his family s experience restoring an old farmhouse to a livable cabin.Jerry Apps is an emeritus professor of agriculture at the University of Wisconsin.I enjoyed this book very much Found it hard to put it down.
