    11. Thankyou Beauty and Lace and Allen Unwin for the opportunity to read Suddenly One Summer by Fleur McDonald I think this was my favourite book of the year definitely worth .Following the story of Brianna, her two boys, very absent husband, her father Russell and her fathers partner Angela made up one part of this story This other part consisted of the queries of two country police in SA.The way these two stories and the mystery of two missing people collide makes this book so hard to put down Wai [...]

    12. Fleur McDonald is established in her genre now, and it shows Stories about life on the land just get better, as for so many of us in urban reality, it s an escape It s not an easy escape, clearly, but an alluring dream, nonetheless The touch of fly in fly out from Perth gave it a satisfying contemporary touch Endearing central characters except well up to you to read it nowGlad I had the privilege.

    13. Fleur McDonald has a way of making all her people come alive I grew up in inland Queensland, however, I have met a number of blokes just like Guy Wood and women like Brianna When I left the farm to do a trade 50 years ago the world was tough for farmers and nothing has changed I started the book 20 pages each smoko then after a few days could not put it down and read the last 300 pages in one sitting Now I need to get hold of the rest of Fleur s books.

    14. A very well put together rural romance, set in Western Australia The descriptions of farm life, the never ending jobs, the dangers of bush fires, concerns for neighbours, the joys of growing up in the bush form a back drop to the family life that is the heart of the book There is also the theme of how different police work is, in the bush Well worth reading.

    15. 4.5 A great story, I m glad I read the short prequel first Fleur always writes a great story and this is no exception Plenty of suspense and real characters, one storyline in WA one in SA, I was kept reading until completion.

    16. Another great novel by Fleur Enjoying the addition of some crime in these novels and love Dave Burrows Can t wait until he features in his own book next year The twist in this novel was well written with the two story lines coming together bringing it all together.

    17. I really enjoyed this book It is very light reading but sometimes that is all I want, something simple that just tells a story The book had enough intrigue to keep me interested and I really liked the characters A great summer read.

    18. I really enjoyed the farming side of this book The mystery was good too Once Angie became a little weird I put things together and figured out this mystery I wonder if she appeared fully sane with Russel all the time or was he taken in completely A very happy ending.

    19. Another good page turner from Fleur McDonald I think it s could be labelled as a rural mystery rather than a rural romance I love a good mystery novel.

    20. Great readI thoroughly enjoyed this book With its different stories within the story that entwined together at the end And an interesting twist at the end.

    21. Brianna lives on a property in Western Australia with her two young sons, her husband who is a lawyer in Perth and her father on the property next door Her mother disappeared when she was three years old Her father has a ladyfriend who Brianna and the boys are not too keen on Dave and his partner Jack are the local police and are really doing a great job keeping the locals safe A good story describing Australia in the summer, farming, friendship, policing Good story

    22. Fleur McDonald simply does not write a bad book The writing is strong and full of Australian familiarity, and I never could have expected how all of he threads of the plot ultimately came together.
