    1. Absolutely charming Beth and Jack have found their dream home and land in France and proceed to set about finding out what their basic need s will be They soon find out that there is nothing basic about it Through much hilarity they set about trying to assemble a group of artisans to do the work needed The group they assemble is nothing short of eccentric With everyone in place they set out to discover their many acre s of forest with their two dogs, Sam and Biff Not a easy task at times but Bet [...]

    2. An absolute delight her best yet I ve read both of Beth Haslam s previous books in her Fat Dogs and French Estates Series She has certainly excelled herself with this book I love the delightful little illustrations and I loved every word I found myself reading slowly trying to make it last The book starts off with a bit of recapping, which I think is good for if people haven t read the others, maybe it could standalone There were so many adventures in this book and so much variety the sad part w [...]

    3. Well it s been read in record time and I am now in withdrawal I loved the first two books in this series and this one did not let me down Picture beautiful rural France, a major house renovation, quirky artisans, masses of wildlife nasties included , two dogs and two dauntless home owners I was promised laughter and tears in this book and while laughter trumped tears, the poignant sections were beautifully written with equal love and empathy. The author s roster of unconventional workers was so c [...]

    4. With her third book in the Fat Dogs and French Estates Beth Haslam s certainly achieved a Hat Trick After having finally found their dream estate in France, hopes that renovations would be done in a reasonable amount of time ar soon dashed Beth and her lovable , if sometimes grumpy husband, along with their two adorable pooches have to face an array of obstacles From vermin infestation to having to deal with a team of most eccentric workmen, the book will make you laugh and smile page after page [...]

    5. What s Not to Love One might say this series of books was perfect for me Aside from my love for animals, I have been to many of the locations and attractions mentioned in the story and very much enjoyed visiting them again The author s writing style and vocabulary, both English and French, kept me well entertained Anglophiles and Francophiles take note of the skillful mixture of wit, plot and character development which made these books so memorable.

    6. A Must read I was so looking forward to reading Fat Dogs and French Estates Part 3 And it definitely did not disappoint.I laughed giggled and actually cried.Beth you have a fantastic way with words and writing I actually felt like I was with you all.I couldn t put the book down and didn t want it too end.Eagerly awaiting the next book

    7. WonderfulI was crushed to find that I had turned the last page but then saw the joyful news that IV was apparently a work in progress Sad news about poor old Biff though I think he should be succeeded by a perfect dog such as a yellow lab

    8. Brilliant readCan t wait for part 4 A page Turner Would strongly recommend this series Good holiday chill out story You feel like you are living the story.

    9. Having read Beth Haslam s previous two books and absolutely loving them I was greatly anticipating the next instalment of the French adventure I was not disappointed as it is just wonderful Having bought their dream property Le Palizac considerably different from their original plan they discovered to their horror that far from needing no work done it required almost total renovation What follows is a marvellously descriptive look at the trials and tribulations they endured endeavouring to make [...]

    11. Absolutely loved this book Tried to read slowly to make it last and savour it a bit longer Along with other fans of Beth Haslam s books, I couldn t wait for this, the third book in the series In Fat Dogs French Estates Books 1 2 Beth takes us on the journey throughout France while her and her husband Jack look for a suitable domaine to purchase In this book, they ve found the near perfect domaine of Le Palizac and although the land and forests on the domaine are exactly what they wanted, the pro [...]

    12. Beth has such a wonderful way of writing that makes you feel as if you are right there with her If you haven t read the first two in the series you should so much fun and so much information but this book could be read on its own Beth and her grumpy husband want to find a place in France with enough land so they can hunt But, they also make sure that they help the animals along and have nurseries for birds and make sure the habitat on the land supports the local animals It took a year to get the [...]

    13. No signs of flagging here, despite the emphasis changing from finding a property, after exhaustive searches in France, to renovating the chosen one The author maintains her easy reading style, treating us to startling descriptions of all sorts of goings on as they struggle with the never ending schedule of repairs and renovations, as yet another disaster is uncovered straight after the last one has been rectified Coupled with even dodgier and outlandish tradesmen that we might encounter elsewher [...]

    14. I was hooked on Beth Haslam s writing from the first book in this series Wonderful memoirs The author and her husband are touring France in search of their ideal location to put down new roots with their dogs of course Book 2 was a super read too I was lucky enough to Beta read Fat Dogs and French Estates 3 gosh, I really didn t want this book to finish You get to know them pretty well they have their place in France and so the fun continues as does the hard work Beth s writing is very witty, ho [...]

    15. Memoirs, one of these and then we bought a property abroad types for a nice, cozy read with a cuppa at hand for a wet, dull evening Nicely decorated with wildlife and unruly pets, safe enough to make your granny laugh and dangerously exciting for your husband, who again struggles, looking at the drill section at your favorite DIY mall The second house in France for a semi retired expats is not a joke when French and British artisans step over your doorstep Or it is It really depends Read yoursel [...]

    16. This book was given to me to beta read I am a huge fan of Beth s previous 2 books so I felt honoured to be given a copy of her new one to read ,all I can say you won t be disappointed Beth writes from the heart , she brings laughter and tears to her writing , Beth s observations are spot on too ,I m sure her previous career must have been for MI5 The only fault I found with Beth s book it ended too soon

    17. Seriously WTF In the first two books Beth and Jack are avid hunters That is why they bought this piece of property in the first place Now, suddenly she s found a conscience and talks about Enzo s unfortunate love for hunting hares I don t believe this All three books are a fun read, though I almost didn t buy book 2 BECAUSE of her love of hunting I d ve given book 3 than 3 stars except for this Unbelievable.
