    1. I was wary of reading this book because it was a police procedural, plus it was part way through a series already, but this did really well to hold my interest and could definitely be read as a standalone I didn t feel like I was missing any of our Detective s back story and it was easy to fall into rhythm with him and the rest of his team. The writing in this book is really good, clearly Murphy is a talented author and has a way of putting a story together that keeps you completely glued to the [...]

    2. It s rare for me to know in just the first few pages that I ve found a book that truly grabs my attention and hangs on with a vengeance but that s exactly what happened with The Last Sin What I expected to be a fairly routine police procedural which I m very fond of, by the way turned out to be much .When a priest is killed at St William in Washington, DC, everyone is truly surprised Who would have wanted Father Matthew Holland dead, this priest in a rundown church located in one of the city s p [...]

    3. Detective Cancini is called in to investigate the brutal murder of a priest, Father Holland Then his friend Father Rossi is attacked because someone thinks he knows about Father Holland s murder Cancini is almost pulled from the case because of his relationship with Rossi but Cancini plans on figuring out what is really happening one way or another This is the first book in this series that I have read Cancini is a tough as nails detective and has personal issues that come into play in this stor [...]

    4. I enjoyed this novel of police procedure Cancini is a detective with his own issues in this story The second priest attacked is a good friend of his and the investigation is almost compromised because of the relationship Cancini struggles with the thought that his old friend might somehow be involved. And that brings up an interesting aspect of the mystery The old priest had been the confessor for the murdered priest Even if he knew truths that would help Cancini solve the case, the old priest wa [...]

    5. This was the 3rd book in the Detective Cancini Mysteries but read easily as a stand alone. The very handsome Father Matthew Holland has returned home As a child he had a very dysfunctional life living with, and losing his drug addicted mother He fled the the foster care system and had to do what he needed to for survival But he turned his life around and returned to the neighborhood parish in hopes of helping women, like his mother, and the children who needed a successful path to the future. Then [...]

    6. When I started this book I thought the title was weird, The Last Sin It just seemed like something erotic or sexual instead of a crime mystery story Then I realized it had a lot of references to the Catholic church So I understood the title a little After reading several chapters I realized the title was perfect A page turner from the beginning to the end.Just when you think you have everything figured out the author throws something new into the pot and stirs everything up Readers are kept gue [...]

    7. Originally reviewed at Brooke Blogs. The Last Sin by KL Murphy is the third book in the Detective Cancini Mystery Series Thought I haven t read the previous books in this series, I had no trouble enjoying this fast paced mystery I was sucked in right from the beginning as the book starts off with a bang I thought this was a well written suspense story that had me on the edge of my seat I liked following along with Detective Cancini as he tried to figure out why the priest was murderedd the other [...]
