    2. I received a copy of Summerchill in exchange for an honest review.A man goes missing from his house but very quickly Helgi and Gunna discover that there are many people who would have good reason for wanting rid of him.I don t normally enjoy short stories but I did enjoy this It was fast paced with lots of good characters, particularly an abundance of bad guys I didn t feel it was missing anything for being a short story other than stories of the detectives personal lives, which if you ve read t [...]

    3. Do the good guys always win Tension maintained, likable characters, pleasant quirky resolution Only issue is sudden, unclear transitions, as in the first novel Sometimes difficult to keep police colleagues straight.

    4. Here we are with another Icelandic tale, this one of a novella but every bit as satisfying as other books in the series Found myself rooting for an unusual character I really enjoyed this story which focused on the criminals than the police.

    5. Although this book is novella length, it reads like a full length book I liked it quite a bit It should be read before Thin Ice as some of the characters carry over.

    6. This is a little different from the other novels in the Gunna series First of all, it takes place in summer there are even references even to heat Secondly, it s a novella rather than a full length novel, so you can read it in one go or at the most a day or two Thirdly, it s not Gunna who is central to the investigation in this instance although she plays her part but her colleague Helgi We also get to see quite a few other POVs, especially the difficult to define Logi Great fun to read and you [...]

    7. This was my first foray into Icelandic noir and Quentin Bates, and I m thoroughly glad I took the step The characters were engaging and well rounded, the pace fast, and the writing tight The author really brought Iceland to life through this tale of a missing man and the subsequent police hunt.A great crime novella I will now definitely be making my way through Quentin Bates back catalogue I received a free copy of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

    8. Mystery This was a pleasant read and as always with this author there was a nice Icelandic feel with the financial crash still affecting everyone The problem is that, although the characters did some surprising things, there was no mystery at the core of the story In addition, if you have not read previous installments in the series, you will not appreciate the characters and their relationships.

    9. Logi is a hard working carpenter who likes spending money but does not care for paying child support to his ex wife When he gets into trouble his Polish co workers are surprisingly helpful and resourceful A realistic feeling slice of the decidedly non glamorous side of police work.

    10. I like the way that this ended The way both heavies talked to Logi and how he defended himself and how he escaped from Iceland Sorry run on sentence I know Well done Quentin.

    11. SuperbSurprising Well written Good plot with plausible but clever twists and turns I would read from this excellent craftsman.
