You always here about what the army did during the war and quite rightly , but you never really see anything about what it was like on the home front Dee Gordon gives you the opportunity to find out what the farmers and the Land Girls of Essex did to keep the nation and its defenders from starving.An excellent book that s well written I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in World War 2, farming history, or feminism.
