    1. Swamped with grief and guilt after her husband was killed in action in Afghanistan, Jessy has coped by hitting the bottle and picking up nameless men for meaningless hook ups The one positive in her life is the Margarita Club, a group of women who, like her, have lost their husbands Dalton s wife committed suicide after both her legs were blown off by a roadside bomb Carrying his grief he has isolated himself on his ranch and avoided people preferring the company of his animals Jessy and Dalton [...]

    2. Good story of second chances and new beginnings We saw a lot of Jessy in the previous book, A Man to Hold on To, where she is struggling to deal with death of her husband, mostly by drinking away the pain and sleeping with strange men One of those encounters still haunts her She got fired from her job at the bank, and knows she has to do something to pull herself out of the pit her life has become.Dalton has been dealing with his own losses Most notably was the death of his wife in the war Every [...]

    3. Another great read.I am really enjoying this series I like the characters, the sense of community, their hopes and frailties The author weaves a complete story that leaves you satisfied and wanting I would recommend this series to anyone.

    6. A Love to Call Her Own by Marilyn Pappano is another heartfelt story in the Tallgrass Novel Series.Jessy Lawrence lost her husband over two years ago in Afghanistan Since then her life has been spiraling out of control She lost her job and her drinking is taking up too much of her day The only thing keeping her sane is her group of friends that all lost a love one in the war But a chance meeting with Dalton Smith slowly changes her world.Dalton Smith has too lost a loved one in the war but he ta [...]

    7. Reviewed for NetGalley I really enjoyed this book This book did not go exactly where I thought it was headed based on what happened in the last book I also am intrigued by the set up for what is probably the next book, although sometimes I felt like that story was taking over I enjoyed this one though, and am looking forward to the next one.

    8. I was waiting for Jessy s story and this didn t disappoint Another wonderful visit with the ladies of Tallgrass and a heartfelt look at their lives after loss I m truly hoping this series continues and we get to see them all find a happily ever after.

    9. I had the opportunity to read a Christmas anthology last year and one of the novellas was be this author and from this series I loved the story because I loved the idea of a series of books built around a group of women who call themselves The Margarita Club with the only qualification for membership being that they are a military widow The series explores each of their circumstances, their individual journey through their grief and a second chance at happiness I was enchanted and wanted so I s [...]

    10. This series showcases a military town s Margarita Club which consists of widows trying to survive their losses.

    11. Copy via Publisher in exchange for an honest reviewMore reviews on No Bent Spines 3 StarsFull ReviewTold in a few different points of views, A LOVE TO CALL HER OWN circles around two girls and their guys, the main one being Jessy, as their stories being to unfold about the tragic loss of Lucy and Jessy s husbands to war and their quest of self discovery and maybe falling in love along the way As I said, this is mainly Jessy s story, but we do have an insight to Lucy s head as well These two gold [...]

    12. This novel is a heartwarming read about love, loneliness and death and even though I enjoyed it to the point that I am about to praise the book in my review I do not think it is a novel for everyone.Pappano goes I think where no author has ever gone before with her latest release It s an emotional roller coaster for readers that follows Jessy, the heroine in the life that she is forced to live after she loses her husband This novel is very realistic from beginning to end and Pappano did a remark [...]

    13. This was my first taste of this author s work and sadly, I think it will be my last I m NOT saying this book was bad, it just wasn t my cup of tea First of all there seemed to be just a few too many threads to this story and I m guessing if I had read the previous 2 books in the series, maybe it would have made this a bit easier for me to follow but since I hadn t, it was just really difficult for me to connect with so many characters all at one time Also, the pacing was way too slow for me But [...]

    14. I wasn t sure about this one when I realized it was with Jessy and Dalton Things didn t go so well for them in the last book and both are mired down with guilt for different reasons.I was glad to see that Jessy was getting her act together because her life was quickly starting to spin out of control As Jessy was taking back the reigns of her life I really wanted her to tell her Margarita sisters, knew that they would support her, but hated that she was afraid of what they would think of her So w [...]

    15. It is always good to revisit Tallgrass, Oklahoma and check in with the Margarita girls, it is like going home and seeing old friends again. The third book in the series picks up with the characters and lives that readers have already been introduced too We learn about the main characters from the first two books and where they are in their relationships however, this book focuses on Jessy and Lucy.Jessy s story was started in book 2 and the reader gets the conclusion in this book Lucy s story i [...]

    16. I liked the second chance theme in this, and I felt it was fairly daring of the author to give the heroine a drinking problem However, the whole book has a fairly maudlin and sentimental feel, with an unrelenting sense of depression, so it got a bit much, especially at this length I skimmed skipped the B Story bits, involving Ben and Lucy, to give myself a break and get it done quicker, because it was all so damned gloomy Potential readers should note that this is not a stand alone book there ar [...]

    17. This novel was a very nice read for a cold week in autumn The main characters have flaws, but move forward toward the end of the story This makes them easier to admire and to identify with The premise of the series is timely and important what happens to those young people who lose loved ones to the wars in which our countries decide to participate I enjoyed the different turns in the story and the whole dog rescue element Anyone who doesn t believe that pets could make a difference in someone s [...]

    18. This was my first book by Marilyn Pappanno, and even a week after finishing it, I m not sure how to review it I liked it, but I had issues with a lot of it, too I liked the author s writing style but the pace of the story left a lot to be desired It took until about the middle of the book for anything to really happen There were also a lot of different storylines, and not having read the previous books in this series, it took me a while to get everything and everyone straight.

    19. Ms Pappano writes novels of such emotional impact that she leaves me breathless I ve laughed and I ve cried for the heart rending emotions the author packs into each of her Tallgrass novels I feel as if I m right there with the women of the Margarita Club as they cope with the grief of losing a husband in Iraq or Afghanistan.I don t rate many novels as 5 stars, but this series is one that I do What a gifted writer Marilyn Pappano is.

    20. I really enjoyed this book I won this book on giveaway and had never read this author before The book was a great surprise I read it in one night I loved this book so much that as soon as I got done reading I immediately bought all of her books in this series I would definitely recommend this author to anyone who loves a great book

    21. BCPL 2016 Reading Challenge An author with your initials. The third in this series about a group of women who have lost Army husbands to wars It is wonderful to see their recovery, each in her own time and yet sad to see yet another woman lose her mate.

    22. Still enjoying this series, but I found the hero, Dalton Smith, a little on the boring side and his character not well developed.

    23. ARC provided by NightOwlReviewsI thought that the whole concept of the book was good The characters were well written however i could not get into the book It just did not hold my interest

    24. I was lost The story was sweet, yes But I got lost so many times If you are planning to read this book, please consider reading the two before this one.

    25. Real people with real feelings This was a great read Too great I stayed up all night to finish it.

    26. The author tells good, difficult stories with characters capable of meeting their personal challenges I always look forward to another book in the Tallgrass series
