    1. 3.5 StarsFor the most part, I liked the first one so I decided to pick up the other three in the series I was excited that the setting of this novel was during Halloween, so naturally I was expecting a lot for a witch book set during that time of year. There s a scene with flying pumpkins And a final climax at a graveyardBut I wasn t really getting the Halloween feelz with this book I think the author could have definitely added pumpkin spice to this recipe, jussayin. To that end, here are the re [...]

    2. Do not read this if you are on a anti baked good diet The bakery is at the center of this fun little mystery series and the delights are in mouth watering detailed This is the series you either break down and hit the local bakery or you put on your apron and make your own, no worries recipes are included p I m a sucker for bakery settings I went the bake it myself route, mmmmmmm The biscotti was scrumptious dipped in my coffee. The characters make this series a double winner for me There are quir [...]

    3. Sure would be nice to have breakfast tomorrow morning with Katie and all that delicious food she cooks up, I d also like a little sprinkle of magic as well.It is October and I am kind of on a witch kick this is the second book in the series and I think it was just as good as the first if not better, I m really enjoying these characters and along with fantastic characters we got a really interesting murder mystery, I really like how the author brings the magic into it all The only thing that stop [...]

    4. This was a lot edgier then the first book in this series and I recommend reading this to fans of Kim Harrison s Hollow series If you are a fan of the Hollow s I d recommend skipping book 1 and reading this right off, then if you like this and want a lighter introductory story then try book 1 which I also enjoyed.

    5. I m really liking this series I m starting to think of it as a light urban fantasy rather than a cozy The supernatural aspect plays a huge role because the murder is based around a society of druids The mystery was not that great, though, mainly due to the fact that the murderer was so blatantly obvious Every scene they were in was like a giant sign with flashing red lights basically informing the reader of their strangeness. What s stopping me from loving the series, however, is that darn romanc [...]

    6. I like the setting and the spell book club members a lot and Mungo is awesome But I hate love triangles and this one doesn t seem to be getting any closer to being resolved Poor Katie seems to stumble over dead bodies and her wiccan group tends to think she then has an obligation to investigate This time around they get involved with another magical group who doesn t like being known.Katie is going to drive me crazy by not choosing between the guys and I m not sure why they are willing to be pla [...]

    7. I thought book two was much better than book one Much better detailed mystery and better use of magic in the book Recipe for Coca Cola cake looks intriguing Nice job with character development All the baked goods sound yummy

    8. The second installment in the Magical Bakery mystery series lets us get to know the coven a little better It also reveals a secret about Steve I am loving this series and can t wait to read the next one.

    9. Yes guys This one takes place on Halloween I am afraid I knew who the killer was since they were first mentioned There was a dead giveaway in my opinion pun intended We learned something about what Katie is and we also found out about another magical team Although I must admit that the best part in these books is the baking Oh my God, I can actually smell the stuff she makes and all I can think about is that I must immediately start baking and begin my own personal grimoire full of delicious re [...]

    10. B, B, and B is the second in A Magical Bakery Mystery series by Bailey Cates. This is a very enjoyable series that doesn t delve deeply in magic, ghosts or witches I feel it is just enough to make for and interesting story and food for thought.Katie Lightfoot and Declan McCarthy, along with Mungo her familiar are having a delicious breakfast picnic at the park when it is ruined by the discovery of a dead man She sees a tattoo on the dead mans arm that appears to be tied to witchcraft Katie soon c [...]

    11. A really interesting read This is the second book in the series and a bit of an intriguing surprise I figured this series would be a bit light and fun and well, maybe fluffy But this book has me thinking not so much the magic goes a bit deeper and a bit darker, making me think that this series will turn out to be delightfully complex instead. The murder plot itself was fairly obvious to me the culprit stuck out like a sore thumb, but it didn t detract at all from the book this is a relief, as I s [...]

    12. This novel is a murder mystery within the magical lives of baker Katie Lightfoot As Katie strives to learn the full extent of her own magical powers, she also tries to balance her personal life with the non magical world This is not easy and it finds her having to make choices in her love life. While on a date, Katie and firefighter Declan McCarthy discover a body in the square Not only is that horrible, but the body is sporting a magical tattoo No one wants to identify the victim and Katie quick [...]

    13. It s nearly the end of October and Katie has been in Savannah for six months The bakery is a huge success and she s been practicing her spell work She s also been trying to avoid choosing between Declan and Steve On a friendly picnic brunch with Declan, Katie discovers a dead body in the square Declan and the police are ready to chalk it up to a homeless man s drunken binge but when Katie sees the tattoo on the man s arm, she feels strangely drawn to it somehow Her friends in the book club are [...]

    14. Sometimes you just need to read an entire book in a day, and today was one of those days, and this book was one of those books It s safe to say I couldn t put it down Cates definitely hits her stride in this book, and I love how everything comes together so perfectly I also love how I got so into the love triangle Because I read the 5th book in the series first, I know who Katie ends up with and I already ship them really hard, so it was really trying to sit there and have this other guy be so a [...]

    15. I loved this book I m a big fan of cozy mysteries if they re well written with interesting characters, and this one was both It kept a good pace, had plenty of humor and light heartedness, and also recipes at the end My only low point is the love triangle Evanovich ruined those for me hopefully that stops soon I wish I d started with book one, but I ll go back and read that before I continue the series.

    16. This is the second book in The Lightfoot Chronicles starring amateur sleuth and newborn witch, Katie Lightfoot Katie has a better grasp of her sleuthing skills as well as her magical abilities in this installment and brings to the table a refreshing addition that I would go as far to argue that was better than the first In this book Katie stumbles upon a dead body that sparks quite an interest for her Her victim is covered in a few rather strange looking tattoos Katie describes the stunning artw [...]

    17. I m happy to have found a paranormal, witch themed mystery that isn t too hokey The humor here works without being too puritan It almost makes fun of itself with how bad luck and irony work Katie may be slightly uptight and lead two different men on a little, but she s still an enjoyable cozy heroine as she dives into baking, magic learning, and diving into oddball situations The coven bookclub is fantastic since they all have their different powers, outlooks, and don t full get along with each [...]

    18. I do enjoy these magical bakery mysteries They are not deep, but they don t have to be I like the character development, I like the basic plots, and I like the supportive friends the main character has, from her wolf in terrier clothing familiar named Mungo to her kindly Aunt Lucy and Uncle Ben It s all a very magical, pleasant world, as she goes about solving the mystery of dead bodies and ridding the world of evil, while baking on the side Totally unrealistic, but I enjoy the fun cozy escape I [...]

    19. Sometimes figuring out how a mystery is going to play out is fun Sometimes it s just painful This one was on the painful side I m hoping that it s just a rough start to a series as it s only the second book I am planning to read the third book, Charms and Chocolate Chips Then I ll decide if I ll continue with the series There are currently seven books in the series, with Potions and Pastries being the most recent one pussreboots blog 2017 comm

    20. I am enjoying this series I did not think I would enjoy the magical spin to the mysteries, but I feel it is well done and gives the whole story an edge This book is based around Halloween and I like to read seasonal books during the season, but I wanted to contine on and I didn t want to wait for 8 months to read in this series again Yes I know I m a little crazy about my reading lists

    21. Katie is just getting used to being a witch, learning new spells, spending time with her coven sisters and running the bakery with her aunt and uncle She is out on a picnic with Declan when they stumble upon a dead body After further investigation Katie learns that the dead man is part of a secret magical society The she digs the dangerous things become and she must rely on her newfound coven members and fellow witch friend, Steve to help her.

    22. A spellbinding read I love the way that Bailey Cates mixes baking and witchcraft The heroine of the story must always fight evil, and it sometimes gets in the way of her love life I hope there is a sequel coming out because I have to know if she will ever let herself fall in love again Plus I love the inspiration to bake and cook that Katie gives me.

    23. Enjoyable second book in the Magical Bakery series I look forward to books in this series. The author defined known characters, added new characters, and gave a couple surprises for characters established in the first book There are several recipes at the back of the book for treats mentioned in the heart of the story.

    24. This is by far the most enjoyable of the few paranormal, cozy mysteries that I ve tried in the past year or two I m not liking the pseudo love triangle I so rarely ever do , but other than that, this was a quick, fun read.

    25. I am really loving this cozy mystery series SO bummed that the next book doesn t come out until November, b c I want to read it right away p I love the magic spells witches aspects of this book, the recipes yummy baked goods, and the love stories in the background.

    26. Think I enjoyed this one than the 1st in the series Love the interaction between the ladies of the group It was interesting to bring in a group of Druids to go with our group of Witches this time The recipe for Coca Cola cake sounded delicious and I would be willing to try it
