    1. This was not my first foray into Jane Green s novels and I was not disappointed in the least She writes with ease and grace She has a way with words that makes you unable to stop turning the pages I feel like the best quality an author can have is the ability to woo their readers and Jane Green definitely does not fall short. In Tempting Fate, Gabby and Elliot have a wonderful marriage with two beautiful daughters They have the picture perfect life Gabby thinks her married friends are crazy, when [...]

    2. Gabby is 43 and loves her husband Elliott dearly He is her soulmate, even though he refused to have the third child that she badly wanted They never fight Oh, except about the absence of the third child And he never annoys her except when he works long hours Or when he snores And they hardly ever have sex, except sometimes when they have sex twice a day Even then, she doesn t make much of an effort, except sometimes when she does So after 20 years together, maybe things have lost a little of the [...]

    3. I ve liked others of Ms Green s book but this one didn t do anything for me I felt uncomfortable throughout and I suspect it was the subject matter I don t have a problem reading about cheating but Gabby was such a self centred shallow bitch, I couldn t bring myself to care less about her The ending was trite and a different ending could have easily saved it for me I m tired of reading about women who long to be just that bit thinner, prettier, loved a bit etc etc Ms Green gave her a job and ye [...]

    4. Sometimes I m just in the mood for some good old chick lit and no one does this genre better than Jane Green Although the feature characters are often times flighty, superficial, and sometimes annoying there is something that keeps me coming back to revel in their lives Tempting Fate is that type of novel for me A story that is instantly engaging, so much so that I was shouting at my Kindle and falling in and out of love with Gabby all in the same breath.Gabby lives a relatively good life with h [...]

    5. This book is a great cautionary tale for married women of all adult ages but particularly for mid life women When you re 23 or 33, it s tough to imagine being 43 or 53, so I m not sure that I would have enjoyed reading this at an earlier stage in my life Gaby is 43, happily married and the mother of two teenage daughters Her life seems perfect but she struggles with the doubts and insecurities that seem to crop up in middle age Unfortunately, she allows herself to fall for a man who isn t her hu [...]

    6. After eighteen years of marriage and two children, 43 year old Gabby is feeling and looking her age Yet she scoffs at the efforts of her married friends who dress up in their tight pants, cleavage showing tops, and strappy shoes She knows they are just flirting to get an emotional high, but it seems so off balance Still, she takes a little care with her appearance for her first night out with the girls As the night progresses and she watches her friends harmlessly flirting, the unthinkable happ [...]

    7. Have been a loyal JG reader over the years, this ridiculous fairy tale definitely disappointed As a happily married 43 year old middle aged woman much like the protagonist, I thought I could relate and was intrigued initially with this read However, under no scenario could I envision the happy ending afforded the characters except in a world of pure fiction and ridiculousness Nor could I envision flabby Gabby attracting some young, gorgeous, billionaire in some cougar bar Seriously Spoiler alert [...]

    8. I ve read quite a lot of Jane Green s novels over the years, and am especially fond of Bookends which was published way back in 2000 I haven t read any of her recent novels, I felt that maybe I d grown out of stories that featured twenty something single girls, looking for love I was pleasantly surprised when I started to read Tempting Fate Jane Green s characters have matured too, along with her writing style and her plots Tempting Fate is the story of Gabby, a woman in her forties, happily ma [...]

    9. I love infidelity Okay, I should qualify that I love infidelity in movies and books It s perfect for the big three drama, tension, conflict I had low expectations when I picked this up, and was dismayed by the lazy writing in the first few pages everything was bouncy or bouncing hair, shoes, etc WTH but then Gabby met Matt, and I was engrossed Hot, flirty Matt, a Gosling of my imagination.5 stars Hooray But it was all over so fast Matt and his ensuing drama and excitement was glossed over, and f [...]

    10. I always look forward to a new Jane Green book and she is back in true form with Tempting Fate which is a fantastic read and really doesn t disappoint.Gabby loves her husband Elliott even after all these years but when her head is turned by another man she feels as though she is missing out on something and could that something be passion, or the way that a younger man makes her feel sexy and youthful and exciting In one night Gabby s safe and loving world comes crashing down around her because [...]

    11. This one was hard to read as you could see what was going to happen and you want to prevent it Very few people actually enter a potential affair situation intending to destroy their marriage or cause harm to it They can start out without that intention and they just want attention or are looking for something that s missing and one thing leads to another It happens to many people, people than admit Gabby had no complaints about her marriage She loves her husband but she does resent his decision [...]

    12. The writing in this book was adequate, but I have to say I just couldn t relate to the main character who was a bored housewife married to what appeared to be a wonderful doctor who totally supported her She has a brief affair with a hot younger man and gets pregnant every heard of birth control Prior to the affair she informs us of how she yearns for another child she has two daughters because she loves babies so much but her selfish, selfish husband has a vasectomy Everything comes out just hu [...]

    13. I ve been a fan of Jane Green for years than I can remember She s always wrote great chick lit novels, but these days they have a bit of an edge to them.Tempting Fate revolves around Gabby, a 40 something English housewife living in the U.S Married to an American Man, Elliott for over 20 years with two daughters, one about to hit her teenage years and the other almost at adult age, Gabby sees her life is a bit dull and she can feel herself getting older Restless and tired of her routine, Gabby [...]

    14. Worst book I have read in a really long time First of all, every character in this book was unlikable, especially the main character, who ends up cheating on her perfect doctor husband with a rich guy 10 years her Junior Her daughters all come off as spoiled Her husband whom she cheated on who you would think you d feel empathy for, you don t as he makes terrible decisions Lastly, the ending of the book is completely unrealistic with everything working out perfectly and tied with a neat ribbon o [...]

    15. Without condoning affairs by either sex, I do find it amusing how differently women are judged when they commit adultery Women become this selfish, whorish woman who deserves a public stoning while men well many just expect it of them, and often excuse it as their nature And of course a woman will pay for it, as she does many joys, the rest of her life, with her spouse if he stays and her children , mutual friends will drop too, usually into the husband s corner.I can see where some reviewers fe [...]

    16. My friend won a Jane Green House Party, which included another Jane Green title, and one ARC of this, which I happened to win.I picked it up while I was waiting for my husband to finish his shower, expecting to read just a few pages Instead, the engrossing story and entertaining writing drew me in Gabby, the main character, is a 43 year old happily married woman who gets hit on by a really hot, funny, smart, rich young man I mean, if you re considering cheating on your husband, it would have to [...]

    17. No rating DNFI just couldn t get past the lying and cheating I knew going into this book that it was going to be a hard one for me, but a friend really enjoyed this book so I agreed to start it I realized pretty early on it wasn t going to work for me, but I forged on making a real effort to give this a go In the end, reading is for enjoyment and this was so not enjoyable, I called uncle and moved on.

    18. Perfection Jane Green never disappoints Her characters are so authentic that you feel like you re living their experiences with them, as if they are your best friends I can t wait for her next

    19. I have been reading Jane Green s books since my early twenties and have grown up apace with her and her characters it sometimes seems After her move to America, Green s books took on a different style which eventually began to wear on me though I continued to read them all there was something missing for me in some of them I am very glad to say that her latest novel Tempting Fate has picked up the pace and was certainly than tempting it was fulfilling and like greeting an old friend, although s [...]

    20. I was delighted to receive an advanced proof of this book from the publisher, having read and enjoyed bestselling women s fiction author Jane Green before I found this to be an intelligent, thought provoking, true to life book Amid Gabby s story, there s a lot of commentary about adultery and divorce and what it means to be a wife, a mother, and a woman of a certain age.It s a book that depicts an emotional journey don t expect a packed, twisting plot with lots of action, but instead plenty of e [...]

    21. Jane Green has established herself as a best selling author of womens fiction, publishing than a dozen novels in the last fifteen years or so Her latest release, Tempting Fate, is the story of Gaby Cartwright, a housewife and mother approaching middle age when a mild flirtation over a drink with someone who is not her husband spirals into an obsession which blows her world apart.Exploring themes such as marriage, motherhood, betrayal and adultery, Tempting Fate is a well crafted story I felt th [...]

    22. Gabby has been married to her husband for twenty years Their marriage is committed, comfortable, and loving She s in her forties and is unfortunately feeling her age, and not in a good way After a chance meeting with a thirty something man, she feels attractive and desirable Who wouldn t want that feeling to continue Tempting Fate presents an all too real example of the consequences of a seemingly innocent flirtation I loved that this book does not romanticize unfaithfulness, even when it s just [...]

    23. Tempting Fate is not one of my favorite books by Jane Green I was drawn into the story, which moved along quickly, and wanted to know how it would end, but I really could not relate to the main story line Gabby is willing to risk her happy marriage to a man she supposedly loves, as well as her relationship with her two teenage daughters, in order to feel attractive in the eyes of a good looking younger man Gabby was extremely self centered and unlikable in the first 130 pages of the book, yet su [...]

    24. Ughhaving unprotected sex in this day and age, especially when she is cheating on her husband is just so bad that there is no redemption for the character

    25. Jane Green is massive in the Chick Lit world, but she isn t someone who I think is a must read I attempted to read Jemima J many moons ago, but I didn t like it at all I don t know why, but from then I steered clear of Jane s books I did try another of her novels, Second Chance, but again it didn t blow me away However it seems that her recent novels have seen her go in a mature direction, with marriages the main focus, getting into the minutaie of what it is to be married, and when I received [...]

    26. When I first started reading this book, it made me mad How could a woman, who says she is in love with her husband, says she has a wonderful marriage, wonderful daughters, wonderful life could get obsessed with a younger man and ruin her marriage Yes, Elliott had a vasectomy when Gabby wanted one child But that is what a marriage is, it s compromise You can t force another child on a spouse So here is Gabby, messing up a good thing and what happens when you cheat on your spouse This is very wel [...]

    27. I have never read any of Jane Green s books before and received this book to review. It reads as a very cliched and formulated book and it s very clear from the very beginning what is going to happen next and indeed the end is clear from a long way off just not my type of book at all The main character Gabby is a middle aged woman and annoyed with her husband goes out with friends for the evening where she is chatted to by Matt a younger man.I disliked her and felt nothing in common with her and [...]

    28. I didn t really connect with the characters I didn t believe for a second that Matt would have gone for gabby Gabby came across as e self centered bd I just disliked her so much for what she did I hate books about affairs Probably shouldn t have attempted this one.

    29. Gabby is 43, happily married to Elliott for almost the past 20 years She s never doubted her love for him, although she is upset that he denied her one thing that she wanted so badly, denied her it without consulting her Their two daughters are growing up, needing Gabby less and less and she finds herself at a bit of a loss, unsure of who she really is any. Then she meets Matt 10 years younger than she is, Matt gives her the appreciation and admiration that at times she feels is lacking from her [...]

    30. Nice easy read by the author, she does a great job developing the characters so I was thinking of them after the story was done I think it s a different topic to write about but very well done
