    1. If you want to read an inspiring book, look no further than the Bad Luck series I am not a fan of fictional crime novels because the cops are always ultra heroic or tragically flawed I get bored quite easily with the way these fictional books always tie things up with some brilliant but far fetched solution I like true crime books that explore the grey areas of law enforcement without all the drama I ve read some good ones try The Monster of Florence but I ve never read one that put me so realis [...]

    2. I first discovered Suzie Ivy when I downloaded Bad Luck Cadet for free back in 2013 I don t read a lot of police type stories but something spoke to me and I m glad it did I loved the humor and heart as we traveled along with Cadet Ivy through hell and back This was one overweight middle aged woman s midlife crisis in action, with grit and determination she did something most 40 somethings would never dream of doing and did it with sarcasm and style, GO SUZIE I laughed along with her, and I crie [...]

    3. I highly recommend the book by Suzie Ivy to everyone who wants a good laugh But I guess the bored fans of crime and police stories will want it This is a comical counterpart that you ll never regret reading Women and men who are close to being empty nesters and experiencing midlife crisis will be inspired by this book while finding themselves laughing away the fears of old age Read the full review here biography book book review

    4. BAD LUCK CADETWhen Suzie Ivy asked me to review her book Bad Luck Cadet, her story sounded pretty interesting, so I accepted, but not without a little trepidation What if I hated the book and wrote a scathing review It s probably not the smartest thing to have a cop on your case, but I looked on a map and determined that Ms Ivy lives than 2,000 miles from me, so she could hardly jump in her police car and pop in on me on an impulse Or could she In any case, if things really went south, I could [...]

    5. I really enjoyed these two books They scratch that itch I have for getting the inside scoop on crime and punishment I just wish I d found Ms Ivey before I finished my novel, Red I ran around everywhere trying to find cops willing to talk to me about procedure, attitudes, etc and could have learned a lot right here Just the basic facts of the story amaze me At the age of forty four, Susie Ivey decided to follow her dream of becoming a police officer The first book, Bad Luck Cadet, chronicles her [...]

    6. It was an honour to be the first UK reader to review this second book Bad Luck Officer I came to it from Bad Luck Cadet, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and this is just as good In the first book Suzie, a middle aged mother with two grown up children, succeeds against all the odds to pass an extremely tough, militaristic and demanding course at the Police Academy here she starts out on her probation year as a police officer the first female police officer in Small Town Arizona She has to put everyth [...]
