    1. I checked this book out of the library on the Naval base in Yokosuka and read it during the summer I remember really enjoying it and recommending it to my friend Pam Grant, who also read it and really enjoyed it Or did she recommend it to me I can t remember Anyway, when I was all grown up, I tried to buy a copy of the book and found it to be long out of print I have since acquired a nice ex library copy, and I haven t reread it, so I can t confidently say I would still recommend it to anyone Bu [...]

    2. Eva Hathaway is a Boston wife who writes hymns while her husband runs from city to city on business computers It happens that one day she meets someone else Yet she s torn between the security of her marriage and the uncertainty of living with a younger man, who wants to be an opera singer.Meanwhile, she s commuting from Boston to New York to visit Richard, an old lover, and cover artists for her albums and some other unique friends Two of which are gay lovers one a costume designer, the other a [...]

    3. do not call this chic lit I love her writing, wish she would write many books her descriptions of everything make me wish my mind could see the world that way although there is pain in being so observant, and so dead on it s than a bored housewife tale we never get the full story of her affair with the married man ten years prior that destroyed her, and there is the crowbar she has slept with since she was 13, suggesting something sinister had been done to her as a young girl I am so glad I fo [...]

    4. I read this story while I was destroying my own life with an equal amount of denial if not with such a marvelously funny voice as the narrator and her mother manage I recommend it to anyone who must give up what was never truly hers.

    5. I think I m just tired of the restless wife story line I find them a little insulting I like to think that there are at least a few women out there having a great sex life with their husband or partner

    6. One of my favorite books ever I ve read it several times Eva is smart and sarcastic, and the ending is very plausible A few of the characters are a tad over the top, but I lovelovelove Eva even if she s a Yankees fan Overall, a great, fun read, highly recommended

    7. Read this so long ago I can t honestly remember anything than it being a decent read Going through a box of books to get rid of, want to chronicle what I ve read, this seems like as good a place as any.

    8. My friend gave me this book in the early 90 s and I ve read it several times since Eva Hathaway is a nutter and this book is a fun, easy, read It s a great summer read
